Butterfly Pea Flower Tea
A calming herbal infusion that feels like a moment of wonder in your cup.
Why I love it:
This is one of those drinks that always makes me pause. The rich blue color is stunning on its own—and if you add a little citrus, it turns a vibrant purple, like alchemy in a teacup. I like to sip it slowly in the afternoon when I need a little reset, or steep it in the evening as a gentle, caffeine-free wind-down.
Ingredients:
1–2 teaspoons dried butterfly pea flowers (or 1 teabag)
1 cup hot water
Optional: a squeeze of lemon or lime, honey or maple syrup to taste
How to Make:
Boil water and pour it over the butterfly pea flowers or tea bag.
Steep for 5–10 minutes, until the water turns a deep blue.
Strain out the flowers if using loose herbs.
For a color-shifting twist, add a splash of lemon or lime juice and watch it turn purple!
Sweeten if you’d like, or enjoy as-is for a clean, earthy sip.
Tip:
You can also chill this and serve over ice with fresh mint or a slice of citrus for a refreshing summer tonic.
